Brief History of Philippine Media

History
We all know that media is about communication in many ways. Way back then, media in our country was not that much into technology. They’re more of into handwritings just like how journalists do. This is where we know all the information about what's happening to our country and even the whole world’s phenomenal crisis.

Pre-Colonial Traces
(Alibata)

On the late 14th century to the late 19th century, it is believed that Alibata is used in these years when Spaniards started colonizing the Philippines. In today's generation, we are using our most commonly used alphabet writing. There's only one place in the Philippines that still use this type of script which is the Mangyans from the island of Mindoro and the Tagbanwa from the island of Palawan.

(Del Superior Govierno)

Del Superior Govierno is the first newspaper in town after printing was introduced here by the Spanish friars way back on August 8, 1811. The newspaper was edited by Mariano Fernandez del Folgueras who is a two-time governor-general of the Philippines.

(La Solidaridad)

La Solidaridad was an organization created in Spain on December 8, 1888, and the first editor was Graciano Lopez Jaena followed by Marcelo H. del Pilar and Jose Rizal.
It is considered the most popular nationalistic newspaper and is the first newspapers to sprouted during the time when Filipinos were beginning to free themselves from the colonial master. Way back then when printing was brought here by the Spanish friars, governor or even media people plan to make a newspaper that can be helpful around our country so that every people will be updated about what's happening.

(The Philippines as Social Media Capital of the World)

The past years was the time people are developing technology and creating apps to make people connected to each other. Filipinos have been highlighted in the online world especially with its heavy use of social media. The Philippines was named “social media capital of the world” as 93.9% of the population area are heavy Facebook users.
The fame of each app started in the year 2011. In today's generation, especially young people, they spend more than an hour using facebook, twitter, and more because what they watch and read in these apps, they get so entertained. So that's why we are named as the "social media capital of the world".

As you can see, every year media is leveling up to make it more interesting for people, but the history of it will never fade because we can still read it through the internet. It was actually interesting because this year, the government is actually thinking of bringing up the script which is the Alibata to be part of the education in every school so that students these days will know its history and that they'll learn how to write it.
